Kong Community Workshop Series: Kubernetes & Service Mesh
09/16/2020 PDT • 9:00 am - 1:00 pm
Join us for a free introductory workshop series to learn about ingress management and service mesh for Kubernetes. Our team of engineers will lead you through this hands-on workshop to get started with:
- Kong for Kubernetes – an open source Kubernetes Ingress controller for end-to-end API management.
- Kuma – an open source control plane for service mesh built on top of Envoy. Kuma is a Sandbox project of the CNCF.
You may choose to join for one or both sessions. These workshops are designed to be an interactive, hands-on experience so our team of engineers will be available to answer any questions throughout.
Kong for Kubernetes: API Gateway & Ingress Management
9am-10:30am PT
In this workshop, we’ll go through the architecture and design of an Ingress layer, and set up Kong on Kubernetes. We will interact and configure Kong via `kubectl` to expose the services running inside the cluster, perform transformations, traffic throttling, authentication, logging on traffic flowing through the cluster.
Service Mesh: Kuma in Kubernetes Mode
11:00am-12:30pm PT
In this workshop, we’ll walk you through deploying a sample application and setting up a Kuma service mesh to secure the application and the network. We will explain Kuma’s deployment methods for Kubernetes and VMs, deploy Kuma on Kubernetes, enable security and observability, connect to Kong Gateway, and apply traffic policies.
