Accelerating Service Mesh With Intel’s 3rd Gen Xeon

Sakari Poussa, Cloud Solutions Architect, Intel

As more and more enterprises migrate from a monolithic application stack to microservices-based architecture patterns, service mesh security and performance becomes more important than ever. By using Intel's new AVX512 crypto capabilities and Envoy upstream codebase, service mesh implementations such as Kuma can offload TLS handshakes in order to handle more connections, with lower latency and save CPU cycles to other activities.

In this talk, we’ll discuss in which scenarios your service mesh will gain from the acceleration and how to deploy and configure your mesh to get the best possible performance.
