San Francisco-Based Kong Opens India Office to Meet Ever Growing Demand for API-First Technologies
BENGALURU, October 1, 2024 – Kong Inc., a leading developer of cloud API technologies, today announced the opening of its new Bengaluru office at 48 Triumph Towers, Church Street, marking a significant milestone in the company’s global expansion. This new office is part of the San Francisco-based company’s strategy to meet the increasing demand for its API platform in India and the broader APAC region, particularly in industries such as financial services, pharmaceuticals, insurance, e-commerce and government.
Kong was founded as an Italian start-up, and is now recognized as a global leader in API management. Kong’s new office in Bengaluru reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to helping organizations become API-first, accelerating AI adoption, and helping enterprises build the digital infrastructure of the future.
The Bengaluru office will serve as a key hub for Kong’s expanding team, which has more than doubled its headcount over the last year with plans to further expand headcount by 25%. Kong serves more than 700 organizations, ranging from early-stage start-ups to Fortune 500 enterprises and has seen rapid growth in its customer base in the APJ region, with the number of customers in India doubling over the past fiscal year alone. Notable customers include Airtel Payments Bank and Godrej Capital.

The platform now include a centralized system of record for all APIs, offering enhanced visibility and control over shadow APIs, faster API configuration updates to improve operational efficiency, centralized management for API configurations and sensitive data, and enhanced tools for integrating with large language models (LLMs) to help accelerate GenAI adoption. Kong Gateway 3.8: Which introduced Incremental Configuration Updates and enhanced OpenTelemetry support to its cloud-native gateway. These new features offer reduced memory and CPU usage for users and better observability, respectively.
Kong AI Gateway 3.8: Further innovating the solution with Semantic Caching, for faster AI responses and reduced computational overhead; Semantic Prompt Guard, strengthening security by intelligently blocking inappropriate prompts; and Semantic Routing, which simplifies AI model selection for developers.
Insomnia 10: Now with a new unlimited Collection Runner runs, and the AI Runner for seamless GenAI development with multi-LLM support, and up to 20x faster performance via semantic caching. New enterprise-level security features like Invite Control enhance collaboration by protecting API assets. With over 1 million users, it’s one of the fastest-growing platforms for building, testing, and debugging APIs.
