# How to Govern, Optimize and Monetize Context in the AI Agent Economy
This session explains how businesses should think about the emerging “context economy” in an agentic AI world, where competitive advantage comes less from hoarding data and more from governing, delivering, and monetizing the context behind APIs, services, and customer information. Dan Temkin traces the shift from B2B integrations, to B2C digital experiences, to a new B2AI era in which autonomous agents become major consumers of business systems at massive scale. He argues that organizations must expose relevant services or risk being bypassed, but they also need to manage the economics carefully: too little context leads to poor agent reasoning, while too much increases token costs, latency, and hallucination risk. Because AI projects often show weak ROI, missed cost forecasts, and highly spiky token consumption, he recommends a practical framework of observe, control, optimize, and monetize, supported by real-time visibility, flexible governance tied to business value, and a unified connectivity layer such as Kong’s gateways and cost management tools.
