# How Prudential Deploys Governed MCP Servers with the Kong AI Gateway
This session explains how Prudential Financial built a governed, self-service path to production for MCP servers using the Kong AI Gateway, so its 6,000 developers can access DevOps capabilities from the terminal and through AI agents. Aaron Scoffield and Sid Dong describe a broader modernization effort that consolidated 25,000 repositories spread across five source control systems and standardized CI/CD on GitHub Actions, with everything managed as configuration and source-controlled code. Rather than treating MCP as a wholly new problem, they mapped it to existing API gateway patterns, using spec-driven automation to generate Kong service configuration and consistently enforce authentication, authorization, logging, identity propagation, and policy guardrails. The result is a no-ticket workflow in which teams write an API spec, commit code, get review, and deploy governed MCP services through GitHub automation. After two months, Credential reported a 20% increase in production deployments, nearly 300% growth in average daily pull requests, and 29 MCP tools supporting internal developer workflows.
