# Kong Insomnia 13.4: See Like Never Before

Cameron HayGlass
Senior Staff Product Manager, Kong

**TL;DR:**

  • - Visually see your Git changes grouped by endpoint and file for easy skimming, then commit in batches.
  • - Hide confidential values from the UI and response history
  • - Enterprise Admins have better license consumption visibility

Kong Insomnia 13.4 is all about giving you more visibility than ever before. Whether it's your git changes, your secrets, or how your users are using Insomnia, you’re able to see more than ever before and make better decisions than ever.

## Git Changes, File by File

We’ve gotten great feedback on the native git support we shipped in v13 a few months ago, and many teams have switched to a CLI way of working. But other teams love the Insomnia Git UI. Others miss the good old days pre v11, when Insomnia stored every endpoint in its own file and it was easy to understand what changes correlated to which endpoint. 13.4 brings the best of both worlds.

**This content contains a video which can not be displayed in Agent mode**

In the top right of the Commit screen, you can now flip into Visual mode, and see all the changes you’ve made grouped by endpoint (and even by tab!) so it’s easy to work one endpoint at a time if that’s what you want.  Plus, you can now commit or discard all the changes related to a given endpoint in one click. Like all the rest of our Git changes the last year, it’s about getting out of the way and letting you and your team collaborate how you want.

## Confidentially, we have a secret for you

Our [_Native Vault integrations_](https://developer.konghq.com/insomnia/external-vault/)_Native Vault integrations_ and private sub-environments make it easy to work with sensitive information from Insomnia. In 13.4, our UI will automatically redact anything confidential by default so it’s not accidentally left behind in your response history, or on an open laptop screen.

**One important note: This ONLY impacts how values/secrets are displayed in the Insomnia UX. Like any API client, Insomnia will send whatever requests you configure to whatever destinations you pick - that’s the whole point of API clients. Always ensure you restrict access to sensitive information appropriately.**

We want you in control of what is considered confidential. Any secret coming from a Native Vault Integration is always confidential, but you can also mark any environment variable confidential.

Want to see the unredacted values? Just disable the new “Hide Confidential values in Preview/Console” setting in your Preferences.

## Enterprise License Management keeps getting better

This is all about giving our Enterprise administrators the tools they need to see how their licenses are consumed, make sure people have access to all the right stuff, and reporting on who else might need a license.

  • - One key concept is **Managed Users **(people connected to your account and therefore consuming a license) vs** Unmanaged Users** (people using Insomnia from your domain, but not connected to your account). The Licenses page contains downloadable reports for both, which we’ve made more obvious in 13.4.
  • - The Managed Users report now contains all pending invites, and visibility into who was provisioned via SCIM.
  • - We’ve improved tooltips and verbiage across Insomnia Admin for better visibility into what an unmanaged user is, why you can’t delete a SCIM-provisioned license, etc
  • - Managed Users can now request access to other Organizations.
  • - And perhaps my favourite - from the Licenses page, you can now see which Organizations and Teams someone belongs to in one click.

In 13.5 we’ll bring you downloadable reports of Organization and Team Membership, plus visibility into your most active Unmanaged Users.

### Our rapid fire changes for 13.4

  • - Insomnia now warns you if there’s any risk of losing work when collaborating across major versions. As always, best practice is for everyone on the same project to stay on the same major version.
  • - Export an OpenAPI spec in one click from the navigation menu.
  • - You can now hover on a variable to see where it’s from, and easily open the source environment in one click from either the tooltip or the Live Preview.
  • - 20+ bug fixes, as always.

As always, thanks for using Insomnia!

## Frequently Asked Questions

  • - **What are the key new features in Insomnia 13.4?**
Insomnia 13.4 introduces visual Git changes grouped by endpoint and file, automatic UI redaction of confidential values, and enhanced license visibility for enterprise administrators.
  • - **How does the new Git Visual mode work?**
In the top right of the Commit screen, you can switch into Visual mode to view your changes grouped by endpoint and tab, allowing you to commit or discard all changes for a specific endpoint with a single click.
  • - **How does Insomnia protect sensitive data?**
Insomnia automatically redacts confidential values—such as secrets from Native Vault integrations or user-marked environment variables—across the UI and response history by default to prevent accidental exposure.
  • - **Can I view unredacted values if needed?**
Yes. You can view unredacted values by disabling the “Hide Confidential values in Preview/Console” setting in your Preferences.
  • - **What improvements are included for Enterprise Admins?**
Admins benefit from clearer reports distinguishing Managed vs. Unmanaged users, inclusion of pending invites and SCIM-provisioned users in the Managed Users report, and one-click visibility into Organization and Team memberships.
