Kong Gives Back: Volunteering with the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy
← Back to Blog Home
Giving back to the community is a huge part of our DNA at Kong. Every quarter, we set aside a day for our employees to volunteer and give back. This time, we were excited to join the volunteer program at the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy, a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the Golden Gate National Parks and making them accessible for all communities.
We spent the afternoon at the Presidio Coastal Bluffs, where our fun and knowledgeable project leader, Yakuta Poonawalla, kicked the program off by telling us about the rich history of the area, including the diverse plant and wildlife. We then got to work restoring the habitat — moving dead branches, sectioning off areas with important plant life from visitors and hikers, and removing harmful weeds to prevent them from endangering other plant life in the area. It was a day of hard work, but it was very rewarding.
One of Kong’s core values is Champions, which translates to listening to and speaking up for customers, community, partners and each other — and as an extension, being a Champion for our planet. That’s why we are so thankful for organizations such as the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy for the opportunities they offer our community to protect our special and vibrant ecosystem. As a company that was founded on an open source community, we know first-hand the power and impact of having a community come together to solve a shared problem.
We look forward to our next volunteer event and the chance to engage with our community again!
